Dena Spillman Bianchino

From the Miami Herald:
"Dena Bianchino grew up in Canton, Ohio. After graduating from Ohio State University, she worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Midwest.

She joined the Mayor Maurice Ferré/City Manager Joe Grassie administration in the mid-1970s -- a time of youthful energy, professionalism and earnest commitment.

''She really had an understanding of the way public funding was used and how to put the money where it would do the most good,'' Cohen said. ``She always wanted to be a professional person and in the '60s and '70s, when she was starting out, she was sort of a trailblazer.''

One of her biggest achievements was enabling the Miami Grand Prix to race downtown in 1983."
