Trucks are not the exclusive domain of guys. Many women are discovering the joys of truck ownership.
During the first 11 months of 2008, women bought as many pickups as they did minivans. And women buy 45 per cent of all SUVs and CUVs.
But it's been a long time coming. For many years, women have had to live with men's perceptions of what women drivers want and need in a truck.Recently, however, automobile makers are coming to grips with the fact that what women want and need in a vehicle is not dramatically different from what men want and need. Men and women like trucks that are stylish, safe, fun to drive, an expression of their personality, reliable, loaded with features, meet their needs and come at a reasonable price.Today's women are proving they are as rugged and self-reliant as the trucks they operate. Sport utes and crossover vehicles have proven to be the go-anywhere, do-anything type of vehicles that accommodate the many different roles women play in life: professional, spouse, outdoor adventurer, parent, traveller, business owner.
