In Iran, womens' rights journalist Mahboubeh Karami was arrested in imprisoned in June of this year. And there she remains - her family unable to meet the high costs of the bail demanded.
Mahboubeh Karami and 90 other women were arrested on 13th June at Mellat Park - there was a huge demonstration "protesting about the arrest on 11 June of Abbas Palizdar, who had accused several senior Iranian officials of financial corruption in speeches he made at universities in Hamedan and Shiraz in May. He had been involved in a parliamentary Judicial Inquiry and Review Committee that had conducted an investigation into affairs of the judiciary."
Mahboubeh Karami's family say that she was not involved in the demonstration but was a victim of the mass arrests that followed.
