Iran: Woman to be stoned to death

From Entertainment Biz:
The political authorities of Iran are being constantly fuzzed by the religious who’s who of the country. Now, a woman is on the verge of being stoned to death as she is suspected to have committed adultery.

43 year old Sakineh Mohammadi was held guilty of having carnal relations with two men simultaneously and with those incumbents who were responsible for her husband’s death in 2005.

Sakineh hails from the Irania city of Tabriz, located in the north-western part of the country. Sakineh was first lashed 99 times for her involvement in infidelity and then she was transferred to the jail. Unfaithfulness is punished with imprisonment all over the world, but in Iran, it seems to be the revisit to the medieval times. Sakineh’s sons have long been endorsing a human rights movement to reach out to the Amnesty to save her life.

A strange story to shout about? No more important than "A cat fell out of a tree in Minnesota." or "Taxi driver suffers flat tyre in downtown Perth."

She was involved in the murder of her Husband and broke several other laws of the country she is in. None of our business.

This story is very important.
I care about this Iranian woman and her children who are living through this insane horror. Governments are not always right just because they have the power to do whatever they want to you, their power does not make it right, does not make it none of our business.

I agree with the first anonymous.

From the dawn of time nations and religions have found it impossible to keep their noses out of other people's business. One culture can not justify judging another. The very fact that they are different cultures means that their understanding of another culture is incomplete - otherwise they would be the other culture. Foisting one's own values on others is wrong on every level. It is invasion, usurpation and an undermining of everything the other holds as their values. Somewhere, people may consider imprisonment for crimes to be an insane horror.

We MUST not interfere in other people's business. It has destroyed too many cultures throughout history.

Anon, the charges of murder were dismissed.

As for her case being none of our business, that is not true. Arguing that people should accept it as part of their culture is rubbish. This is a fundamentally imposed law by the extreme right wing relgious that has taken over the country. Indifference and silence is complicity. I don't intend to be indifferent or silent when it comes to human rights abuses, no matter what the gender or age.
