Man Beheads Daughter

An Indian father beheaded his daughter with a sword and paraded it through his village after learning of her alleged "indecent behaviour" with men.

Police in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan say they were shocked when Oghad Singh turned himself over to authorities with the severed head and sword still in his hands.

Singh's daughter, Manju Kunwar, 20, was living with her parents after leaving her husband two years ago.

Police Superintendent Umesh Ojha says Singh was upset by his daughter having affairs with men and became enraged when she eloped with one of them two weeks ago, NY Daily News reports.

Supt. Ojha said Singh forced her to return home Sunday and beheaded her Monday with a sword.

Canada - Honour Killing

An Afghan immigrant couple and their son have been found guilty in a Canadian court of first degree murder over the "honour killings" of four female family members, and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The Shafia family had come to Canada in 2007, after living in Australia, Pakistan and Dubai over the previous 15 years.

The jury in Kingston, Ontario, deliberated for two days before pronouncing a guilty sentence against Mohammad Shafia, 58, his 42-year-old wife Tooba Mahommad Yahya and their 21-year-old son Hamed.

Their defence lawyers said on Sunday they would appeal the convictions.

Judge Robert Maranger called the crimes "heinous" as he sentenced the accused to 25 years in prison, and said the evidence clearly supported the charges.

Justice for Noor Faleh Almaleki

An Iraqi man in Arizona accused of killing his daughter because she had become too westernized was convicted on Tuesday of second-degree murder.

Faleh Hassan Almaleki was found guilty of running over his daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, with his SUV in October 2009.

Prosecutors claimed the 50-year-old Muslim man committed an "honor killing" because his daughter had dishonored him by living with her boyfriend and his mother.

Almaleki was also found guilty of aggravated assault for seriously injuring Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, the mother of his daughter's boyfriend.

He was acquitted of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted-murder charges.

Noor Almaleki, 20, died at a hospital on Nov. 2 after fighting for her life for nearly two weeks.

She was run down by a Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot in suburban Phoenix while walking with Khalaf on Oct. 20.
